The rising star has substantial social media audience
Kai Trump can count on plenty of prominent backers when she begins her first LPGA appearance later this week.
This teenage golfer, who happens to be related to a former US president, was granted a sponsor's invitation to play at the Annika competition in the Sunshine State.
Her grandfather, a passionate golfer, owns multiple courses worldwide and regularly matches against his granddaughter.
"He's fairly competent. I can't reveal details but we have some close matches," she revealed.
She mentioned that Trump, who won't be present, advised her: "Just don't get nervous."
"He practically suggested to go out there and have fun," she explained.
"In my eyes, he's simply a normal grandpa. He's not attending for the tournament. He's focused on running the country, so he's rather occupied."
While still amateur, Kai has competed in a mere three competitions in 2024 and has ranking 461 in AJGA listings.
But she can get advice from 15-time major champion, romantically involved with Kai's mother.
"He represents the top athlete globally," Kai expressed.
"Additionally, he's an even better human being. He suggested me to go out there, enjoy myself, adapting to whatever happens."
She'll challenge several the biggest names in the sport at this tournament, such as second-ranked Nelly Korda, British golfer Hull, Lexi Thompson and last year's winner Lilia Vu.
The LPGA commented that involving Kai helps introduce golf to different demographics, particularly reaching the next generation.
Kai has substantial online presence and has started her own clothing and lifestyle brand.
Her first tee time at 5:30 PM GMT.
