Well beyond 14 days subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the duo.

Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director

Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt prepared to express about his personal sorrow.

"Adequate time has gone by that I can finally articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."

The actor shared archival material from the production, remarking that he could not remember "a single day without joy".

"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to direct it," Elwes wrote.

He additionally honored Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."

Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator

In a separate piece, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.

"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.

Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.

"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.

Recently, a Los Angeles judge ruled to prevent the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.

A judicial mandate placed a restriction on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" pertaining to the probe.

The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a record citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".

In the wake of the deaths, public figures shared varying comments.

Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making divisive claims that were widely condemned by many commentators.

Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his voice to the those speaking out last week. Talking on his program, Rogan labeled the statements as "disturbing" and implied they showed a concerning lack of empathy.

Rogan concluded by proposing that an aide could have stepped in when the decision to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
