Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for questions to be asked about his future after a further convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 matches, representing the team's poorest streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received significant backing from above,” the coach stated.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to expand on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I sense the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Problems and Player Response

The manager lamented known failings from his team in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period of this nature with results so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we’re always going to compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, prove once more what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
