A woman accused with harassing Kate McCann apparently deposited her a voicemail message which posed: "what if I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, 24, who witnesses stated has persistently claimed she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial indicted with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, the tribunal learned phone records and data obtained from phones logged Ms Wandelt repeatedly asking Madeleine's mother for a biological test during 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - at the age of three during a vacation in Portugal - is considered the most publicized child disappearance cases and is still unresolved.

'I Am Not Seeking Money'

A separate voicemail, presented in court, captured Ms Wandelt stating: "I realize I'm overweight and unattractive like Madeleine had been, but I feel what I know."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's recording stated: "Imagine there is a slight possibility that I'm her? What then? Isn't that significant for you?"

"I do not need money, I possess a living here in Poland, I only wish to know," she added.

The panel was advised that by means of electronic messages, text messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt requested a DNA test, forwarded youth pictures to her phone in a bid to show a resemblance to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and asserted to have "memories" from a childhood with the McCanns.

The investigator, an intelligence analyst with the police force who compiled the evidence, informed the court there "showed no any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally contacted acquaintances of the McCanns, as per the call data.

On that date, Gerry McCann picked up a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "a wrong number."

During that incident Ms Wandelt recorded a recording on Mrs McCann's answerphone saying "I will persist and I plan to establish my point."

The court learned Mrs Spragg struck up a connection via internet with Ms Wandelt before accompanying her on a visit to the McCanns' residence in that area in that winter.

Call logs showed Mrs Spragg had reached out through communication app to Mrs McCann to say the media had depicted Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she ought to be considered genuine in the period preceding the visit to Rothley, Leicestershire, in that winter.

The court heard correspondence between the two individuals, in last November, planning endeavoring to get Mrs McCann's DNA samples from her garbage or from cutlery at a restaurant.

"We must assert ourselves," the co-defendant told Ms Wandelt.

On the evening of the appearance to their residence, the defendant dispatched a message which expressed: "We are positioned near the McCanns' home with our headlights off similar to investigators. I had hoped to accomplish this with another person I didn't imagine I would be involved in this with the McCanns."
